Q: How do the themes in your book connect to today's cultural and political climate?

Q: Are there specific issues or events that influenced your writing, and how do you hope your story contributes to the conversation around these topics?

A: “First and foremost, I consider myself a storyteller, not a political commentator. However, having said that, I think there is a theme of justice that runs throughout the Dimase Augustin series. Of course, justice is in the eye of the beholder and we see it through the eyes of Dimase.

At one level, he is an everyman that readers will relate to, but at another level he’s willing to put it all on the line in a way that most people would not. As the series develops, Dimase faces dilemmas, and has doubts, just as all of us do. To me, he represents the fantasy of being able to confront those challenges and resolve them in a way that many readers would find satisfying.

The primary goal of the books is to entertain, but different threads are woven into the narratives that might prompt the reader to consider important subjects from a different perspective. Concepts such as moral relativism, the tendency of power to corrupt, the law of unintended consequences, and the principle of due process are all tangentially explored. Issues such as human trafficking, corruption, moral turpitude, murder, extortion and the implications of advancing science and technology are all touched upon as Dimase acquires a broader stage in the later books.

The series is designed to be binge read, and will initially be rolled out on the website in a twenty-eight day cycle with the first eight books being released about a month apart throughout late 2024 and early 2025.”
